Last month I was on a commercial tour to learn about different types of machines. I am a science graduate and now working as a marketing associate in a research firm. My primary work involves researching various factories and collecting valuable information about different types of machines. One machine I was very interested in was an oil expeller machine. In this article, I will share my knowledge about my oil extraction machines which I had received during my visit.
Although there are many types of expeller machines, oil expeller machines are generally used to extract oil from oilseeds, such as rapeseed, palm kernel, sunflower seeds, castor seeds, linseed, jatropha, cottonseed, peanut, copra ( coconut), mustard seeds, sesame seeds, soybean, sheanut, corn germ and other oil bearing seeds / nuts.
This expeller and screw press machine have a pressing chamber in which seeds are thrown from one side of the press. Expeller machines use pressure and friction from screw drive to compress oil seeds. Oil emits from the seed through small pores. I asked the operator why these openings are so small. They said that these openings prevent any kind of solid material or residue to blend with the extracted oils. This waste or solid residue of seed is present from the other end of the machine. This leftover residue is known as oil cake.
As I was eager to know more about this machine, the operator responded easily to all of my questions. Since ancient times, people are used to extract oil from oil seeds. So, what's the difference? In earlier days, the seeds were cleaned only by grinding or stone mills. With the increase in science and technology, the use of automatic oil expeller machines has begun to extract oil from oil seeds or nuts. By making these machines fast, the extraction process has made it very easy.
There are mainly two types of oil expeller - Full Press expeller and Pre-Press expeller . While the full press expeller is used by small and medium oil mills, the pre press expeller is used by large oil extraction companies. There are many advantages to employing these advanced expeller machines such as optimum oil production, low power consumption, and crushing of all types of food and non-edible oil seeds at low operating costs.
